Huff, Puff and Blow the House Down With Point of View - Reading Comprehension

Activities:
*Introduction Game: The teacher and student will participate in a quick introduction and will play a Three Little Pigs version of Would You Rather? (10 minutes)

*Brainstorming: The teacher will activate background knowledge asking students what do they know about the story of Three Little Pigs. Students will comment and the teacher will write student responses in a brainstorming web. (5 minutes)

*Direct Instruction: The teacher will do a quick lesson on the reading comprehension skill point of view.  The teacher will introduce first and third person point of view and will discuss how point of view affects what the reader knows through examples. Students will share quick first or third person examples with the class. (15 minutes)

*Read-Aloud: The teacher will read The True Story of the Three Little Pigs. (15 minutes)

*Discussion: The teacher and the students will discuss what happened in the story, who's point of view is the story told from, and what do we learn because of who the narrator is.  (10 minutes)

*Wrap-Up: The teacher and the students will rate the book with a thumbs up or a thumbs down and say good-bye. (5 minutes)
