Students will learn about the concept of a rhetorical analysis, as well as the components that make up this kind of writing (author, audience, text, context). Students will practice writing a rhetorical analysis of a film of their choice. 

I have been an English professor for 10 years. I teach Rhetoric & Composition to first year college students every year, and one of the key skills we work on is understanding what makes up a rhetorical analysis. I've been using movies as a strategy for teaching this concept for the past several years and find it to be a very successful method of explaining the concept, especially for students with less experience. That's why it is very easily adjusted to the younger age group that this class is designed for.
