I will begin class by reading the story How to Catch a Snowman by Adam Wallace. During the reading we will discuss the following
~ who the author is and what an author does
~ who the illustrator is and what they do
~ who the characters are and what is a character
~ where is the setting and what is a setting
~ I will ask students to make a hypothesis about what might happen next during the story
~ at the end I will ask students about what happened in the story to check reading comprehension. 

After the story I will ask the students questions based on the story. Students will have to recall what traps were used in the story to try to catch the snowman when we put them in order. We will do this together.  

Next I will allow time for students to create their own trap for catching a snowman. Students will design their trap by sketching out a design on their paper. If they are able to they can also write a sentence describing their trap. *Students will have the opportunity to share their designs.

*Differentiation activity- based on the students in class we may complete a first, next, and last worksheet based on their snowman traps. 

**If there is time students can complete a snowman art project. (This will be included in the materials sent to the parent. If there isn't time students can complete on their own time with their family)
