Students will experiment weekly with different mediums, materials, processes, and art-making techniques. Idea building and creative exploration are encouraged and critical thinking is emphasized. Students will be taught the elements of art and principles of design. They will be introduced to well known artists and their work and will learn to view art and talk about the different elements using art-related vocabulary. The students will have opportunities to voice their thoughts about a work of art and how it makes them feel. The students will learn how to express themselves through creative artwork and to be observant and analyze the world around them. I teach in a positive, inviting and comfortable format so that they feel welcomed to speak in class but not forced. First few minutes of class will include a meet and greet, rules and expectations and questions. The majority of the class time is spent on our art-making, drawing, painting and creating. The last few minutes will consist of overview of the main art points learned and positive comments and feedback. This class is designed for beginning and intermediate art students, however all levels of experience are welcome to join. No art experience or knowledge is required for this ongoing class. Please read all class information including learning goals, homework, assessment and materials. 

Week 1 of Sept 2 - element of line (materials: white paper, black sharpie marker, crayons)
Week 2 of Sept 9 - element of color (materials: watercolor or heavy drawing paper, watercolor paints, brush, cup of water)
Week 3 of Sept 16 - element of shape (materials: white paper, pencil, eraser, oil pastels)
Week 4 of Sept 23 - element of texture (materials: white paper, colored markers including black)
