My name is Maria, and I am a homeschooling mom. I have 9 years of classroom experience in the private school setting with elementary through middle school. I have a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in Communication and Business Admin. My minor is in Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolution.  I have been homeschooling for two years, as well as a teacher in our co-ops. For the last 7 years, I have been a scout leader for both Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. I was a team manager for Destination Imagination for 5 years. I also have experience with learners who may have learning disabilities and neuro-divergent learners.

Some topics will have optional homework assigned.  Ms. Maria understands the needs of different families and that some families do not have a need for additional work.  Ms. Maria will have extra assignments and will provide feedback for those families who are interested.

Students will be assessed through class reviews, experiments and weekly assignments. Letter grade can be provided, by request, at the end of the semester based on participation and completion of work.

By request, a progress report can be issued detailing the completion of a full 7 week session. 

We will use source text such as the Bill of Rights, National Geographic, the US constitution for resources on Local, state, and national government. Class handouts and lessons are created by Ms. Maria, using various websites including; teachinghistory.org, nearpod.com, khanacademy.org and exploratorium.edu.
