I think your going to love this wizard themed Halloween beginner cooking class and celebration. First, we will show off our costumes. Come to the party dressed in your best costume! I can't wait to see your cool costume and anything that you've made as a diy! Next, students will make edible wands. The edible wands are chocolate covered pretzels. Please see the supply list below for materials. Parents may need to be present to help students with the microwave while making these. While students finish working on their wands and we wait for them to set in the freezer, students will have the opportunity to try some fun Halloween puzzles and trivia. Students will answer the questions in turns so that they don't get any food items on their computer or Ipad. After we finish puzzles and trivia, we are going to share our wands. Students may need help to find a proper microwave safe bowl when melting chocolate for the edible wands. Students may also need help using the microwave when melting chocolate.

For edible wands: A tall mug (we will melt the chocolate in the microwave if the mug is taller, more of the pretzel can be covered in chocolate) Spoon Parchment paper Long sized pretzel rods 6oz (half of a bag) chocolate chips (more if student wants to decorate more pretzels) Halloween themed sprinkles. Colored sugars don’t tend to look as bold on the melted chocolate, but you can choose what works for you. I prefer the kind in shakers so that students do not spill or waste sprinkles when using them. Some students may also like the edible eyes. Hi! My name is Lauren, but my students call me "Best Teach". I graduated from Westminster College in 2004 with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I earned my Pennsylvania English as a Second Language Program Specialist K-12 certification. I moved to Shenandoah, Virginia to teach English as a Second Language in 2006. I taught over 40 students (K-12) at 4 different schools. In 2007, I moved to the traditional first grade classroom.
Since then, I have taught in many different capacities. I have taught baby sign language to parents, online for two years as an English as a Second Language teacher, and as a homeschool tutor. My most valuable teaching experience has come as a homeschool mom. I have been teaching my neurodivergent 15 year old son and neurotypical 12 year old daughter since the day they were born.
I bring a variety of classes to Outschool, because I like to pull from all of my interests and talents.
