I will never forget the first time I stood on the sand along the coast of Normandy, France. Every time I return to the beaches, I wish that I could bring more people to experience the location first-hand. I have had the great fortune of having met with many of the heroes of D-Day and stood alongside them on those French beaches. Students will be able to understand the purpose of D-Day. Students will be able to locate the beaches of the D-Day landings. Students will recall stories of individuals that survived the longest day in history. Students will understand why it is important to remember those that gave their lives on the beaches of Normandy.
I have taught World History for over 15 years. I was the lead history teacher for my school and I've written numerous history curriculum guides. The expertise on this subject comes from the many trips I have taken to the Normandy coast of France. I have walked along the white crosses in the American cemetery and stood in the German bunkers.
