In this ongoing writing course, students will be provided a new writing prompt each week to inspire the weekly writing entry. A short mini-lesson will explain a writing skill focus for the week and include teacher modeling. My 30 years in public education included teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade language arts as well as serving as a language arts instructional coach and instructional specialist for grades 4-12. I embraced the teachings of writing instruction leaders like Nancy Atwell, Ralph Fletcher, Penny Kittle, Jeff Anderson, Kelly Gallagher, and Jennifer Serravallo as I designed this course.
