This is a 10 lesson self-paced class that will cover the gods and monsters used as characters in Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. We will be going out of order of character appearance in the book so it is best that the student has read the book first. There will be videos, worksheets with readings, exercises, and quizzes. Additionally, there will be some weeks in which essays will be required on character relationships or student reflections. At the end of the session the student will be asked to write as essay on how the characters in the book compared to the Greek mythology stories originally told about them, and how they think the changes effect what current generations understand the past.

I have a degree in History as well as passed my teacher's license test in Massachusetts. I use my love of History and facts to help children understand that history is conceived of real people who did real things. I found Social Studies class boring as a child because the teachers concentrated mostly on dates and statistics rather than the humans behind the events.
