I have set this course up to mirror a general chemistry course using NGSS standards. This will ensure that your student has a cohesive class sequenced in a manner designed to help students make sense of the material and the reasons behind learning this subject matter. Each week will include note sheets, practice problems, and a review. I will have suggestions and examples of chemistry lab activities, but due to the format of this course, it does not include a mandatory laboratory portion. Feel free to jump in at any point if you need a specific concept or want to review it. The newest section begins in the fall of 2023. ⭐Unit 5 - Energy and Chemical Reactions Week of 9/3/23 - Calculating Bond Energy Week of 9/10/23 - Endothermic and Exothermic Calculations Week of 9/17/23 - Enthalpy Week of 9/24/23 - Entropy Unit 5 Test - Digital ⭐Unit 6 - Reaction Rates Week of 10/1/23 - Calculating Rates Week of 10/8/23 - Factors Affecting Reaction Rates Week of 10/15/23 - Collision Theory Week of 10/22/23 - Interpreting Data Week of 10/29/23 - Catalysts Week of 11/5/23 - Catalysts and Application Week of 11/12/23 - Reversible Reactions Week of 11/19/23 - Factors Affecting Equilibrium and Calculations Week of 11/26/23 - Introducing Acids and pH Week of 12/3/23 -Strong Acids and pH Calculations Week of 12/10/23 - Introducing Bases/Conjugate Acids - Bases Week of 12/17/23 - Calculating pH and pOH Week of 1/7/24 - Acid/Base Titration Week of 1/14/24 - Interpreting Data Unit 6 Test - Digital ⭐Unit 7 - Nuclear Chemistry Week of 1/21/24 - Radioisotopes/Nuclear Strong Forces Week of 1/28/24 - Types of Radiation Week of 2/4/24 - Reading/Balancing Nuclear Equations Week of 2/11/24 - Fission/Fusion Week of 2/18/24 - Half-Life Week of 2/25/24 - Sources/Uses Unit 7 Test - Digital ⭐Unit 8 - Introduction to Organic Chemistry Week of 3/3/24 - Introduction to Organic Chemistry Week of 3/10/24 - Drawing using Line Angle Diagrams Week of 3/17/24 - Alkanes and Properties Week of 3/24/24 - Alkenes and Properties Week of 3/31/24 - Alkynes and Properties Week of 4/7/24 - Cyclic Compounds and Properties Week of 4/14/24 - Organic Compounds in Daily Life Week of 4/21/24 - End of Unit Review Unit 8 Test - Digital
학습 목표
As stated by the NGSS:
⭐HS-PS1-1: Use the periodic table as a model to predict the relative properties of elements based on the patterns of electrons in the outermost energy level of atoms.
⭐HS-PS1-2: Construct and revise an explanation for the outcome of a simple chemical reaction based on the outermost electron states of atoms, trends in the periodic table, and knowledge of the patterns of chemical properties.
⭐HS-PS1-4: Develop a model to illustrate that the release or absorption of energy from a chemical reaction system depends upon the changes in total bond energy.
⭐HS-PS1-5: Apply scientific principles and evidence to explain the effects of changing the temperature or concentration of the reacting particles on the rate at which a reaction occurs.
⭐HS-PS1-6: Refine the design of a chemical system by specifying a change in conditions that would produce increased amounts of products at equilibrium.
⭐HS-PS1-7: Use mathematical representations to support the claim that atoms and mass are conserved during a chemical reaction.
