수업 소개

**A MINIMUM OF 4 STUDENTS IS NEEDED FOR SOME OF THE GAMING FUN.**
This is an ongoing club for all those bookworms out there. Bring Your Own Book is the game this club will be focused around, and book talk will be encouraged each week we get together. The games played in each class are subject to change, depending on class size. Several "special appearance" games, that play on words, will also be brought to the table.

Read on for all the book craze that will go down each and every time you join me!

In this ongoing class students will get to play one of my most favorite "bookish" games out there. Bring Your Own Book is a party style game, and all ages are able to enjoy it. One student recently referred to it as an Apples to Apples approach, but with BOOKS. This game introduces a fun and unique way for kids to skim through the pages of any book of their choosing, and come up with their own take on each prompt presented to them. Will you be able to find "lyrics from a hip hop song" in that classic book that has withstood the test of time? Or, after skimming the pages of that thrilling mystery, will you be able to come up with "an instruction found in a board game"? You never know what responses will be brought to the table for each prompt.

Here's a few of the **most epic** responses that have been found by players recently:
"I hate being eaten! You have no idea how many times this has happened!" in response to the prompt "something that an animal in a fairy tale would say".
"Pickle farts of disgust and meanness" in response to the prompt "a line that's funnier if you replace one noun with 'pickle farts'".
"Frog blood" in response to the prompt "a title in a murder mystery novel".

Bring Your Own Book is called the The Game of Borrowed Phrases. It was brought to gamers by Gamewright. The following is what Gamewright has to say about Bring Your Own Book-
(quoted directly from Gamewright's website)
"Your old favorite book is now your new favorite game! Draw a category card, grab a book, and then quickly skim to satisfy the chosen prompt (and the judge!) with the most entertaining phrase. Since you can use any book, you can play with any group and find limitless potential on every page! The simple act of reading a book will never be the same after you play this game. Inventors Matthew Moore and Luke Nalker created this wildly inventive twist to a popular activity that takes the phrase 'Read between the lines' to a whole new meaning. We all know that books are filled with rich imagery but who knew that they could be the source of so much fun."

In order to play the game(s), each student WILL NEED to bring a book of their choosing to class. (Please see my supply list for more details.) At the beginning of each class players will give their books the spotlight, and let the class know a little bit about the book they brought. Then players will get their game on. Players will need to be able to read game information that will be sent to them through the chat feature, and will also need to be comfortable reading aloud to the group, as their answers will need to be heard by everyone in the class. This club will give bookworms an opportunity to mix up their book choice each week, making gameplay even more unpredictable.

**PLEASE NOTE**
Because this ongoing club is all about books and words, book talk will happen! This club will focus on a social gaming atmosphere, and give players an opportunity to highlight tidbits about the book they bring each week. Based on the class size, "special appearance" games will make their way to the game table. This will also help keep the club running if we don't reach a minimum amount of players for Bring Your Own Book.

The "special appearance" games include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Boggle - the word game
•A Word Hunt - a literature enriched scavenger hunt
•Literary Charades - a game to get bookworms up and moving

**IMPORTANT**
Because of the game structure, a minimum of 4 students makes for a better gaming experience. Once you enroll, please, keep an eye on the classroom announcements and discussion. This is where I will keep you updated on enrollment, and the coming week's plans. I will also send out messages, so make sure you are checking your email's spam folder, as some wind up there by accident. You can also find these messages inside your "conversations" by clicking the drop down menu on your Outschool profile. It is also good to familiarize yourself with the classroom forum, as some information will be sent to each player privately. These messages can be accessed through the "teacher" section inside the classroom.

If I could play games all day long, every day I would!! Being able to bring 2 of my greatest passions, books AND games, to the table makes it even better. Bring Your Own Book is a game I pull out often for our local book club, and the kids always enjoy it. This game brings so much crazy laughter to the table each and every time it's played. I enjoy hearing all the silly responses the kids come up with. I can't wait to introduce the world of "Bring Your Own Book" to your kiddos!
Because I'm a gameschooler, I'm always finding new game treasures. I look forward to continue adding games to this club's game list that play on books 'n words. It's a challenge I thrive on!
