Students will use hands-on, fun activities to practice fractions. Students will use real life examples to relate to fractions. A pie, for example, can have many equal parts. We can create different fractions by eating different amounts of the pie. We will compare different fractions to see which ones are larger or smaller. Students will use visual drawings that they will create in order to manipulate the fractions and better understand how taking away or adding different amounts the whole object will change what the fraction is. Students will be able to ask questions and discuss different ways to figure out fractions of whole objects. Students will be focusing mainly on their math skills but they will also be using creative thinking skills when connecting fractions to real life objects and social skills while having these discussions with each other. This will be an interactive, fun way for students to master fractions! This class will be geared towards beginner level learners with fractions.

Week 1- 2/8-2/11 Topic- Fractions Theme: Introducing fractions
We will discuss what a fraction is, how to write a fraction, and what the top and bottom number mean (numerator, denominator). We will practice writing a fraction and share questions that students might have about fractions.

Week 2- 2/15-2/18 Topic- Fractions Theme: Practice creating fractions
Students will use pencil and paper (markers/crayons/colored pencils optional) to create a picture of circles/squares/rectangles. We will divide the shapes into equal parts and practice shading in different sections. The students will discuss how many parts are shaded and how many parts there are total. I will explain that this is how we create fractions and we will use the picture to visual and write the fraction. Students will discuss any questions they have about the topic.

Week 3- 2/22-2/25 Topic- Fractions Theme: Fraction practice with real life objects
Students will continue drawing pictures of shapes and creating equal parts. In this class, I will give the students a fraction and they will make the shape and decide how many equal parts they need to make and how many of those parts to shade in. We will practice this and the students will discuss their drawings.

Week 4- 3/1-3/4 Topic- Fractions Theme: Relating fractions to real life objects
Students will discuss how fractions are used with real life objects and how they are used in real life scenarios. Students will take notes throughout class and each student will draw a representation of a real life object that relates to fractions. We will discuss the students pictures and wrap up any questions the students have at that point, if any.
학습 목표
Students will be learning about parts of a whole object. They will learn what the numerator and denominator are and how to write a fraction. Students will learn how to compare different fractions and how to relate fractions to objects in every day life.
