This is an interactive class that can be taken as a Before or After School Spanish program. This club is perfect for students that want to improve their fluency and reading comprehension abilities. We will meet for 6 weeks and students will meet with me and other friends that want to keep improving their bilingual skills. This class is perfect for Dual Language Learners / Immersion Students / Native Speakers that are able to communicate in Spanish at a High Intermediate / Fluent Level. Every week, students will take turns to read a story out loud while we discuss about the characters, main idea, make connections, make predictions, retell, summarize, change the ending, etc. I will encourage students to share their thoughts in Spanish and enrich their vocabulary with new words or concepts. Sometimes, students will be asked to complete a class exercise just to reinforce the acquisition of new vocabulary while we fall naturally into the rhythm of the Spanish language. Hola Niños! My name is Jackie. I was born and raised in Perú. Now, I live in Virginia with my family. I hold a B.S. in HR Management and I'm a Certified Interpreter/Translator for the Winchester Public Schools and local hospital. In addition, I'm TEFL certified and I have been a Spanish Teacher since 2004. My first experience as a teacher was in a regular classroom setting but since 2016, I have become a Virtual Spanish Instructor. Online platforms allow me to reach out to students from all over the World. I enjoy preparing my students try their first words in a foreign language. At the beginning they can be very hesitant but little by little, I help them build their confidence and speak in full sentences. Teaching my language is a very rewarding experience! 😃Therefore, I have designed Online Spanish lessons for Beginners, Mid and Advanced students so my little and big learners can keep taking as many classes as they want. Your children can take One-Time lessons, Multi-Day classes, Ongoing Conversational sessions and / or participate in Book Readings, Spanish Camps or Semester Spanish Classes!

My teaching philosophy is learning while having FUN and presenting the material in small pieces. I keep my classes small (1-8 students max.) and we do a lot repetition. My goal is for students to internalize the vocabulary so they can use it in their daily routines.
In addition, as an experienced Spanish Teacher, I follow the TPRS Method (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling). TPRS lessons are a mixture of reading, storytelling, activities, games and repetition. This methodology motivates and prepares my students to trust themselves speaking, reading and understanding a foreign language. I use a lot of visual aids during the class so everyone can follow the sessions.
