Students will be able to demonstrate mastery of the following:
--understand solving for an unknown as undoing using opposites/inverse and then checking 
--solving for an unknown using the multiplicative inverse (single-step)
--multiplying 3 fractions using canceling as a shortcut
--solving for an unknown using multiplication, division, addition and subtraction (multi-step)
--finding the area and circumference of circles
--solving for an unknown with fractions

I am a certified teacher (Grades 1-6) with a Masters in Teaching and over 20 years of classroom, small group and one-on-one experience. Math has been my focus for the past 5 years, and I have taught this specific 5th grade Mastery Math Method course for 3 years.

Homework will be assigned weekly through various materials posted to the Outschool Classroom. These should generally not take more than 1-2 hours total to complete. Additionally, on class days I suggest that students take a few minutes directly following class to finish any assigned classwork they were unable to complete

Ongoing informal assessment through interactive student activities and responses, as well as monitoring student classwork and homework. Weekly lesson quizzes and a final unit test at the end of the session will also be given. Parents, please contact me about the level of assessment and feedback you prefer for your student.
