Lesson 1
Medicine in the Ancient World and the Plague of Athens
In our first section, we will have an introduction to the course, and we will be looking at the Ancient Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, and Mesopotamians, their medical knowledge, the Plague of Athens (430 BCE).

Ancient Herbal Remedies and Other Ancient Plagues
In section two, we look at other major disease outbreaks in the ancient world and the herbal remedies that were used to combat illnesses and injuries.

Lesson 3
Plagues in the Middle Ages
This section covers the Plague of Justinian and it begins our journey into exploring the "Black Death" that ravaged Europe in the 1300s.

Lesson 4
Other Medieval Diseases
In part two of this section, we finish looking at the "Black Death," and then we explore other illnesses from the time period. A few diseases are time period specific and are no longer around today.

Lesson 5
The Tudor Era
We cover the possible illnesses of King Henry VIII and other members of the royal family. We will also look changes to new medical remedies.

The Colonial Period
Europeans are traveling across the Atlantic and creating an exchange of diseases between the Old and New Worlds.

Lesson 7
The Revolutionary Period
In this section, we look at diseases that were occurring during the Revolutions involving Britain and France. We will also delve into the illnesses that plagued George Washington and Napoleon.

The Industrial Revolution
In this section, we look at a lot of changes and medical advancements that happened thanks to new ideas and technology.

Lesson 9
The Victorian Era
In the Victorian Era, people were gaining a better understanding of diseases and germs. They were also having medicine shipped directly to their homes. We will be looking at the ingredients in those mail ordered items and how diseases made their way into the literature of the time.

World War I
This section covers more medical advancements, diseases that were in the trenches during WWI, and the Spanish Flu.
 Week 11
Lesson 11
Women in the Ancient and Medieval Worlds
In this section, we look at how the Ancient Greeks viewed women's medicine and what careers a woman could have in the field at that time.
 Week 12
Lesson 12
Tudor Women through Victorian Women
In our final section, we look at the trials of childbirth for women in the Middle Ages and Rennaissance, and the specific women's only illness of the Victorian Era.
