수업 소개
In this 10 week class the students will be introduced to basic science concepts related to the study of life. We will grow plants and explore animal diversity. Classes one and two allow students to practice sorting and categorizing. Classes three and five will provide practice sequencing. Some classes will be discussion based, some will have students gluing pictures to practice sequencing and others will have hands on activities. PowerPoint will be used at times to provide further examples. At the end of each class I will ask the students to draw a picture related to what we learned that day. During the next class student will be able to share their drawings as we review last weeks concepts. Class 1, Living and Non-Living: In this class we will classify items as living, nonliving but natural, and nonliving but man made Class 2, Pants and Animals: In this class we will sort examples by "plant" or "animal". We will discuss the difference between plants and animals Class 3, Life cycles: In this class we will focus on the life cycles of a few different plants and animals. Class 4, Basic Plant Structure: In this class we will learn different parts of a plant and prepare our seeds. We will also prepare a garlic bulb to grow Class 5, Food Chains and Adaptations: In this class we will discuss omnivores, carnivores and herbivores using living and extinct examples. We will place these examples into food chains. Class 6, Digestion: in this class we will do a hands-on activity to model the digestive system Class 7, seedling growth: we will examine the results of week 4 and discuss what we've learned about plants Class 8, Skeletons and Muscles: In this class we will use gross motor movement to explore the skeleton and muscles systems Class 9, Animals with Skeletons Inside: In this class we will explore the diversity of vertebrates. Class 10, Animals with Skeletons Outside and Animals with No Skeletons:In this class we will focus on arthropods as well as other invertebrates

교사 전문성 및 자격증
I spent three years developing and teaching an after school kindergarten program, followed by two years teaching grade one. I also worked many years in a daycare. I love the enthusiasm young learners bring and I enjoy making scientific concepts approachable for all learners.
