In this flexible schedule class, learners will focus on the long vowel digraphs, which will boost your reader/writer into feeling more confident to complete literacy tasks.  This class is perfect for learners who can decode simple words, and who have begun writing sounds in words. This is typically a first or second grade level phonics class, but some advanced kindergartners would benefit from this course to extend their reading and writing skills.

The class will have no live meetings, but will still be very interactive! Each of the 5 weeks, we will focus on a long vowel and the spelling patterns that are used to spell that long vowel sound (ex: for long a, we will focus on "ai" and "ay" digraphs).  I will post a weekly video lesson at the beginning of each week that will focus on the long vowel of the week. Learners can watch the video as they choose.  I will provide some paper assignments for each long vowel digraph set, which might include cutting, gluing, and/or crafting. Printing is optional, as I give some suggestions on how to practice the content with the resources via screen. 

To ensure the class remains interactive, learners will share at least one picture from their challenge activity from the weekly video. Learners will give feedback on each other's shared content, offering encouragement and motivation for each other.  Additionally, all learners are encouraged to share a specific reading or writing goal as the course begins, and we will revisit the goal as the class ends, celebrating growth throughout the five weeks.
