Week 1Lesson 1Four Math-Related RootsStudents will be given a list of vocabulary words. From each set of vocabulary words, they will find the root, its meaning, and origin. Students will increase their vocabulary and improve their spelling skills.
As a homeschooling mom, I have taught my own children Greek and Latin roots. This has prepared them well for the SAT, and has also helped them in their English classes. I also have a degree in elementary education.
Homework Offered
There will be some optional activities. For example, I will ask the students to be on the lookout for the roots we have studied in class. If they find one of the roots in a book they are reading, they can post it on the word wall on Nearpod to share with the other students.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

Print-outs - These will be posted in the classroom each week. Please print it out prior to class. Colored pencils and eraser Scissors Glue A binder with notecards. This can be purchased at any store that sells school supplies. To get an idea of what it looks like, go to Amazon's website and search "Oxford Index Card Binder."
Students will be using scissors, glue, and colored pencils, so parental guidance is suggested.
