In this 10 week course on the Amazon Rainforest, students will ultimately gain knowledge of deforestation, depletion of resources, and consider conservation of the Rainforest. Students will begin by learning where and what classifies a rainforest, then read or watch the recorded reading of a book (The Great Kapok Tree) as an introduction to the course. They will then take a journey deep into the riches this special landscape has to offer by learning about the weather, climate, insects,...

Students will need to be able to record presentations for submission via video It is recommended that students purchase The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry for this class. At this time, it seems to be between $6 and $14. Digital copies are ok as well. The book is readily available in bookstores and on the internet.
There is no parental guidance necessary for this course. A google account is encouraged to help make using Google material more accessible. Students should have basic knowledge of using a browser, video recordings, and Google but it is not necessary as the teacher will be available for help.
Recommended: A copy of The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry ($6-$14) Google, YouTube, Nearpod, Padlet, Polls will all be accessed in this course A Google account would be helpful Join Amazon Rainforest Group on Outschool (message teacher for more details if needed.
