Create art with instruction but at your own pace!  This is a flex class, perfect for working on art!  Videos with supplies and lessons are posted in the classroom but there are no live meetings. Step by step directions will be given but you will be able to stop and start as needed. Work when it fits your schedule.  
This flex class will run for 4 weeks.  Each week I will post a project and supply list.  In addition I will post a video with a step by step lesson to create the artwork. While you work feel free to pause the video and work at your own speed.  Review steps as you need so that you are successful in your work! Remember I will direct you but you are welcome and encouraged to make your own creative choices!  
Throughout the week I will post questions related both to Christmas and our lesson. Real world examples of art similar to our lesson will shared and discussed. We will learn from these examples with critique including breaking down elements of art and principles of design. We will have polls, search and finds, and scavenger hunts. Students are required to share answers and converse with the other learners!  It is a great way for us to get to know each other and have fun. Students will be required to post pictures or videos of their artwork.  It is a great opportunity to engage in an artistic critique and discussion.  Sharing our artwork absolutely inspires creativity. I will offer constructive criticism and helpful hints.  Students should make kind compliments or ask questions about fellow students' artwork.  
Projects include: Mixed Media Christmas Tree, Clay Ornament, Christmas Tree Landscape and Gingerbread House.  The Mixed Media Christmas Tree will include lessons on watercolor painting such as wash, variegated wash and gradual wash.  We will draw, cut and glue to create the tree collage.  The Clay Ornament will include lessons on hand building and sculpting with clay as well as some carving detail.  The Christmas Tree Landscape will focus on using acrylic paints to create tints of color and create texture while learning about the layout of a landscape.  The Gingerbread House drawing will incorporate simple shapes and lines to build a drawing finished with color.
Each lesson will incorporate how to use various elements of art and principles of design to create a piece of art.  We will experiment with different art materials throughout the flex course.
