In this ongoing course, students will become text detectives to improve their reading comprehension! Students will find the evidence from the weekly passage to prove their answers. GET $4 OFF THE FIRST WEEK WITH CODE WARD4U4.

This class uses an active reading strategy – by color-coding our answers – with non-fiction informational text passages. Referring back to the text in order to support an answer is an important skill for readers to learn.  To prove basic reading comprehension skills, we will read short passages and underline in the text (with a colored pencil or crayon) where learners find their answers.  Color-coding helps students to organize their thinking. Students will also write their answers using complete sentences. 

During the class, I will be displaying the passages on the screen. However, students will benefit the most from this activity if they print their own copy of the passages so that they can actively color-code the answers.
