Students will learn the proper formatting and rules of screenwriting.  They will also learn some of the tricks of successful screenwriters and develop their own skills as writers.  Another huge benefit of a class like this is that writers will have the chance to hear their work performed by others in the class to see whether the ideas they have in their heads are coming out clearly on the page.   

I have been a senior level English and Writer's Craft teacher for more than 20 years, but beyond that I am a writer of prose and screenplays myself.  I've written a Young Adult novel, numerous screenplays, and I've been a script reader for a production company.

Students are encouraged to continue their work outside of class if they feel inspired to do so and then share their work on the class page. They are never required to do this work.
