Welcome to 5th grade science! 5th grade science is broken into four quarters. This curriculum is packed full of fun facts, hands-on activities, and interactive learning. I believe that to understand a concept students, and grown-ups, need to jump in and experience it! Class will start with a brief presentation, game, or video. Lists will be posted in the classroom prior to class each week. pencil worksheet provided device to research with 2 hard boiled eggs (you'll want to have an adult's help to boil 2 eggs in water for about 15-20 minutes, drain, cool, and bring those to class) 2 clear cups dark food coloring (blue, red, or we can mix blue and red to make a dark purple) water two long straws tape two plastic sandwich baggies scissors a quart size jar (larger jar) vegetable oil Alkaseltzer tablets food coloring Jello (you can premake this ahead of time or use the kind that is in the little cups) mini marshmallows Fruit roll ups (or something similiar that is flat) Licorice (the kind that will work best will be the kind that you can pull apart into long strings) toothpicks plate crayons, markers, colored pencils cardstock or cardboard glue medium size styrofoam ball knife permanent markers rubber band beads (two colors) playdough pipe cleaners paint + paintbrush 3 cups vingear chicken bones (leftover from a meal) egg shell
