One of my favorite authors to introduce children to the wonders of nature study is Thornton W. Burgess. REQUIRED: Please bring the following materials to class: Nature journal (or plain paper for drawing birds) Pencil Colored pencils, markers, crayons, or other art supplies to draw birds OPTIONAL: Families that want to learn more may want to purchase a bird feeder or nesting box for their backyard. I will sometimes share opportunities to learn more, but these resources and suggestions will be optional.
No outside sources are necessary. Learners are not required to have a copy of "The Burgess Bird Book for Children." You may view the book for free at Project Gutenberg https://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/3074/pg3074-images.html or purchase the book from your local bookstore.
