In this geography class, students will be introduced to each of the fifty states. Students will learn about the geographical characteristics of each state, learn about the state bird, state flower, state tree, the city capital, fun foods and activities, and explore national parks. This is a teacher led class using pictures, power points and games. Students will be given the opportunity to discuss the state in a fun and inviting atmosphere. I believe that students learn best in a fun, active environment which will nurture a love of learning. I am Mrs V, as my classroom students call me. I teach phonics, grammar, science, math, and music classes. I am licensed to teach kindergarten through 6th grade. I also have a minor in music. I taught preschool for 6 years and I did student teaching in kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, and 6th grades. I have worked part time in the public school system for the last 5 years. I homeschool my two youngest children and enjoy finding fun new ways to teach things. I also teach ESL classes online. I believe that including the student's interests into the lesson engages the learning and makes learning fun and more easily attainable. Fun, hands on activities and games provide an engaging learning environment. My hobbies are animals (I live on a small farm), music (I minored in music), reading and crocheting.
