Explore How We Hear With Our Ears is a one-time, 30 minute class designed to teach students about their ears. We will explore the parts of the ear, discuss how sound travels through the ear, learn about what causes that dizzy sensation in our head, and compare how animals’ ears differ from our own. Students will improve their understanding of the ear with how sound travels through the ear. They will learn the specific parts of the ear that help with hearing and balance. They will learn why animals can hear sounds we can’t.
I have ten years of experience teaching Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. A constant topic with my students has been learning about the ear and how sound travels.
A one-page handout will be provided for the class.

Parents, I will be sharing a video titled How The Ear Works from KidsHealth. It's a cute animated video that lasts a little over 5 minutes. It will be used as a review with students on the parts of the Ear and how sound travels through the ear. The video will be shared by screen share and will not require an account. I will share basic images of animal ears to visually show students the differences from our human ears.
We will refer to an enlarged 3D model of the ear. A video from Nemours KidsHealth will be shared with students later in the class as a review on the topic of the parts of the ear. I will share images depicting animal ears to visually show the differences between human and animal ears.
