수업 소개

Students will be taught the fine art of note taking using a combination style to help unorganized students to be able to identify and create functional notes that are organized and understandable.

We will then delve into the practices that deal with procrastination and motivation to prepare learners to work at their best ability. Students will learn how to prioritize & be shown simple steps to set up and use iether a paper or tech planner to organize every aspect of their life by priority.

During this time, everyone will create their own schedules, set up their own timers and organize their own supplies and equipment for their own work load. They are taught about the different types of goals and how to hold themselves accountable to reach those goals.

Students will be taking notes, summarizing and preparing study guides for test prep.
They will set up a homework routine and a working planner that includes their entire routine to where they can schedule study time around the plans.

Every class begins with a video lesson regarding the days topic. The students will be led to do the work correctly and then given a task that they have to do, turn in and then discuss with their peers to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Week 1 is spent going over the Back style of note taking that incorporates many styles into one easy to understand and the organization methods that go along with good note taking. Then the lesson goes into summarization and study guide creation. The students then are to show they understand the content by giving each other a sentence that the other students get to choose from to write in their own short hand.

Week 2, we go over motivation to find out what makes our learners tick and then we practice methods to use what we have found in order to push them into action on a every day basis. Next, a lesson in accountability where you are introduced to exactly what it is and how you can attain the skill. Finally, there is a breakdown of the weekly checkpoint list the learners should be keeping to keep themselves organized and moving towards their goals of faster homework times as well as more organized notes and study guides.

Week 3 was developed to enhance your child's organizational skills when getting ready to do homework, keeping notes, developing study guides and scheduling tasks. After the lesson learners will put together a detailed homework schedule that they will post for peer review before turning in their weekly checkpoint of their weekly goals and accomplishments.

Week 4 is all about time management and priorities. The lesson breaks down how to use time management skills to avoid distraction and procrastination and then leads into a full day of self exploration into what their priorities truly are. They will then create their own priority list and prove to themselves when they will be able to accomplish those goals. In the end, learners write a summary of what they have learned to share with the class and compare and contrast with at least two other students.

Week 5 is spent going over technology for time management. Students will be introduced to all the different free platforms that can help them to organize their lives, from timing their daily chores and stifling procrastination to becoming a more astute learner. Students are then given a task to answer questions about their needs and use their answers to choose a platform. After using the new tech, they are to make a review video to share with the class that states what they like and dislike about what they chose.

Week 6 is where learners are shown the art of creating a planner. They are shown how to know which type to use, how to set it up to their specific needs and how to make it align with the homework. Learners will then have a choice of sharing screen shots, pictures or videos of their new computer organization skills, their new planner skills or their new paper organization skills.

Week 7 Entails a plan to make your teens homework time faster and easier as we go through all the steps to become an organized and planned student. After class we will fill and share out our weekly checkpoint and then assess our peers answers by stating whos plan seems to be what they are striving for, why and by giving advice to others that seem to need more clarity.

Week 8 is all about goals. We will look into all the many types of goals involved with becoming the best student, practice recognizing what makes these goals attainable and then setting up our own goals to incorporate into our own lives. We will choose between four different activities to work and share with the class so everyone gets to see how each one shows a different way to reach our goals. Then they will decide which practice they would prefer to use in the future and share a paragraph that states why.

Week 9 We will continue to work on our goals and make them even more attainable as we move forward to set them up in ways that we are sure to be maintained through our busy schedules. By the end of the week the students will have put together a list of completely detailed and monitored goals for every stage of their life. They will finally share their list with the class in any format they would like whether it be audio, video, picture or attachment. Students will assess at least one other list to only add positive statements of anything they see that can make the lists better.

Week 10 The final week will be spent preparing for tests. This lesson entails the routine they should be incorporating now to ensure they are ready for any and every test throughout middle, high, college and career. They will then create and turn in a study guide that they will share with the class to study together. The last day of class, they will be sent a test that they will have 4 hours to complete. The students with the highest scores and the most completed homework tasks will get the valedictorian certificate. Those others who showed excellent work ethic by turning in all their work will receive the Certificate of Excellence, those who worked hard but did not get everything turned in with receive a Certificates of Achievement, on down to a simple Certificate of Participation.
