Book reviews are an excellent vehicle to learn to write essays. They are focused, short, and can quickly show off the author’s writing and thinking abilities. Writing about a favorite book makes learning fun and effective. Week 1: Students will discuss the five elements of essay writing and see application in examples of finely written book reviews. Students will gain a better understanding of the five elements of essay writing. Students will learn to apply this knowledge by writing a book review as an essay.

Students are encouraged to apply their essay writing knowledge by writing a review of their favorite book. An essay of this type is typically 1000 words or less, but can be more if desired. Students are asked to email me their book reviews before the second class so I can preview them. The student will bring the book review to the second class to share it with the others. This is optional, but will greatly increase the effectiveness of the class.수업 외 주당 0 - 1 시간
