This eight week course will introduce students to the fascinating field of entomology. We will examine the importance of insects to their ecosystems, their anatomy, evolution, behavior, and relationship with other organisms. We will focus heavily on not only the organisms themselves, but also their ecological context. 

We will examine the questions such as, but not limited to:

How do insects sense their environment? 
Why did some species develop social behavior?
What is symbiosis and parasitism?
How are insects classified?
What ecosystem services do insects provide?
Which species provide services for humans?
How does insect physiology differ from that of mammals?

There are no prerequisite classes for this course, just a love of learning and curiosity about these amazing six legged creatures.

Classes are designed to encourage student engagement and follow their curiosity.
