수업 소개
In this class students will learn how to craft amazing paragraphs. Paragraphs are the building blocks of any good essay or paper and the key to writing great paragraphs will be explored in this lesson. The lesson will begin with a new writing prompt, this could be something contemporary from the news (age relevant), from sport, music or video games or something historical. From here we will discuss a point of view to write our paragraph from, it could be persuasive, argumentative or supportive. We will then look at what makes an amazing paragraph including how to write an opening or topic sentence which really stands out to the reader. We will then build our paragraph using a variety of techniques including word/vocabulary choices, use of persuasive techniques (rhetorical questions, statistics, personal pronouns etc). We will then explore the content and structure of our paragraph as a class before students write their own based on the success criteria developed within each lesson. This lesson is fun and engaging with learners interacting with me and each other, offering ideas and encouragement. I have been teaching writing in the UK for 18 years and my teaching style is relaxed but fun and encouraging. I aim to ensure that each learner will develop their skills in their own way throughout the lesson through careful modelling and discussion so that they feel confident in their own writing skills.

Hi, my name is Paul Dutton and I have been a qualified/certified teacher for 20 years! To do something for this long you should love it and I love reading and writing and teaching! Over the years I have worked in a variety of educational settings in the UK teaching English as well as Film and Media. Most of my career before OS was spent in beautiful North Wales. I have taught children of all abilities and from all kinds of backgrounds and I continue to do this through OS.
My degree is in English with History and I feel privileged that I can follow my passion for language and literature as a career. I aim in all my lessons do deliver fun, interesting and stimulating classes to all my learners. As a father of four, I understand that as parents you are looking for the right teacher for your child. I also understand that value for money is important now more than ever.
As a teacher you will find me kind, compassionate and patient. My classes are relaxed yet purposeful. I appreciate every learner who joins one of my classes and always aim for the very best learning experience. My classes range from writing paragraphs to book clubs and film clubs.
