Did you love "Encanto?" Did you wonder what country, authors, and styles of literature inspired it? "Encanto" is Disney's first foray into the fascinating genre of magical realism. Students are welcome to come and learn more about Columbia, the features of magical realism, and authors and directors like Guillermo del Toro, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Julio Cortazar, and Pablo Neruda. Students will understand and recall the basic features of magical realism, be able to name 2-3 examples of magical realism as a genre, and will be able to identify the features of magical realism in "Encanto."
I am eager to have your learner join the students from 5-50 to whom I have taught English. Although my original BA is in Psychology, I have taught both ESL and English at three different Universities abroad. I love students and I love literature. I am eager to help North American students get a worldwide perspective on literature drawing from my own experiences as a reader and a traveler.
