수업 소개
What will be taught? What topics will we cover? How is this class structured? Learners will explore the elements of art. They will create an artwork to explore each artwork individually and the course will culminate in the student creating an artwork that intentionally incorporates the elements of art that they explored. By looking at, creating, and discussing the element we are applying, learners will incorporate new art vocabulary around that element. Learners will share their progress as they create their artwork and provide each other feedback using appropriate art vocabulary. They will also gain experience with art critiques by giving each other feedback on their artwork. Week 1: Let's start with line! We will discuss line quality and look at examples of it. We will describe ways artists choose to use line in their work for effect. Learners will plan and create an artwork with line as the focus. They will be given some ideas, but are encouraged to develop their original idea. Week 2: This week, we will focus on the element of shape. We will look at examples of art where this element is the main focus and describe what we see. We'll discuss what the artist was intending to convey by using shape in the way they did and expand our shape vocabulary. Learners will then design, develop, and create an artwork that uses shape as the main focus. Week 3: Color is the element we will focus on this week. We will review some color theory and look at examples of artwork that makes use of color and how to use a color wheel. We will look at and discuss examples of how artists use color. Learners will plan their own artwork and choose a medium (paint, oil pastel, colored pencil, etc.) to explore color and color blending to create an effect and convey their artistic intent. Week 4: We will study value this week. We will look at examples of work that focuses on the use of value and describe it. We will discuss how the artist created value in their work and the ways they used this element intentionally. Learners will then plan, design, create their own work that incorporates value. Week 5: It's time to talk about space! Learners will explore how artists use space in their artwork and incorporate new, related vocabulary. Students will show their understanding by creating an artwork that uses space intentionally to create an effect or meaning. Learners will pay particular attention to their use of balance and how that can create movement through their image. Week 6: Now let's move to 3-D! This week, we'll look at examples of sculpture and the differences in how we approach 2-D and 3-D work. Learners will plan, develop, and construct an artwork that is 3-D using Crayola Model Magic. We will explore several different methods of manipulating the clay and adding color. Week 7: Our last new element is texture. We'll look at examples of how artists have used texture on both 2-D and 3-D work and discuss. Learners will choose whether they want to create a 2-D or 3-D artwork that incorporates texture. We'll discuss ways of making texture. Learners will plan and create an artwork that focuses on this element. Week 8: Let's put it all together! This week, we will review the elements of art and what we learned. Learners will decide which elements they want to use and create an artwork that intentionally combines multiple elements of art. Week 9: We will use this week to catch up on any unfinished work and give each other feedback. We will celebrate our successes. Learners will share any revisions they've made on previous artwork based on the feedback they've been given. How will the class be taught? How will learners interact with the teacher and each other? The new week's material will be posted on Sunday evenings. Learners will be expected to "check in" with the teacher and each other through the week and discuss progress made. Videos and material will be posted through the Nearpod website and teacher and learners will interact and provide each other feedback through Flipgrid as well as through classroom comments.
