We're bringing music classes into your home for your kids! These general music classes are designed for your kiddos ages 7-9 (equivalent to Grade 2 and Grade 3). Students in our classes get to explore the fun of music through singing, dancing, and playing! WHAT HAPPENS IN OUR MUSIC CLASSES? 👉 Opening and Closing each class with a fun song to get our voices singing! 👉 Singing new songs - we learn at least one new song per class including tunes kids are familiar with. 👉 Learning dances and groove along to some of the songs we sing. 👉 Reading and learning rhythms and note values like Quarter Notes, Quarter Rests, and 8th notes, and 16th notes 👉Playing with home-made instruments, and finding objects to use as instruments! 👉 Learning to identify sounds, volumes, instruments and more MUSIC CONCEPTS EXPLORED IN 2-3 MUSIC: 🎼 Sound Identification through singing and mimicking sounds around us 🎼 Movement Exploration with Body Percussion 🎼 Developing Listening Skills to identify patterns of sound 🎼 Recognition of note and rest values 🎼 Identification of instruments UPCOMING CLASSES: (please note, this schedule is subject to change depending on teacher schedules and availabilities) 🗓August 5-9: We will warm up our singing voices by learning and or reviewing Solfege. We will also sing some silly songs such as “Going on a Picnic”, and “Say Hello.” In addition to singing, we will also work on reading and playing rhythms by using body percussion. 🗓August 12-16: We will begin by reviewing our Solfege and our body percussion from the previous week, learn more about Solfege, and we will even learn a new song and the movements to the song called “Wave of Kindness.” If we have time remaining, we will introduce our “Squilt” activity as well. 🗓August 19-23: To keep up with our work, we will begin this week with more body percussion rhythms and Solfege! We will also review Wave of Kindness, and learn a new game called Poison Rhythm! If we have remaining time, we will also learn to sing two new songs: “Let Us Chase the Squirrel” and “Here comes a Bluebird”. 🗓August 26-30: We will start off this week by learning or reviewing “Let Us Chase the Squirrel” and “Here comes a Bluebird” from the previous week. We will also complete another SQUILT activity and work on our Body Percussion rhythms and Solfege. On top of that we will begin to learn a new song called “Eh Soom Boo Kawaya”. If we have time at the end we will also review “Wave of Kindness.” 🗓September 2-6: This week begins with a review of “Eh Soom Boo Kawaya”, and review “Say Hello” from a few weeks prior. We will also continue to work on our Rhythm with Body Percussion, sing a new song called “Christopher McCracken”, and play a new activity called “Which Rhythm Do You Hear” to work on our listening skills and rhythm comprehension. 🗓September 9-13: This week we will start off with a new welcome song to learn and sing with! We will also complete another SQUILT activity. We will continue to work on our rhythmic reading with body percussion and singing with our Solfege! This week also introduces two new of our silly songs: “Engine Number Nine”, and “Ridin’ that New River Train” as we start to work and develop our steady beat. In this lesson, we will also introduce Composer Wolfgang Mozart. 🗓September 16-20: We continue this week by reviewing our steady beat and body percussion and introduce new silly songs like “Poor Little Bug,” Samesies Clapsies” and “I Like Singin’” which will help us out with our Solfege practice. 🗓September 23-27: In this weeks class, we will start by reviewing some of our silly songs from previous classes, and complete a SQUILT activity. We will listen to and move to a song called “Personages with Long Ears” and learn about the Tempo - Grave. To build our steady beat practice, we will learn a new silly song called “Bounce High, Bounce Low and play the Hight or Low game. If time permits, we will also let students choose to play a game of Poison Rhythm OR a New game of Poison Solfege. 🗓September 30 - October 4: This week starts with two new silly Songs of “Paddling my Kayak” and “John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt”, “Whoopee Cushion” and “Shake the Papaya” We will also introduce dynamics and go over the “Surprise Symphony”. If time permits, we will also let students choose to play a game of Match the Melody or Poison Rhythm.

From time to time we may have a lesson that includes a worksheet with color, or even cutting with scissors. We will let you know when those lessons are coming up so you can prepare these items for your learners.

We rely on the MusicPlayOnline curriculum for this class which provides students to access materials we use at home as well! We will provide a link for you to access these materials should students wish to use the materials at home between classes.
