El único 및 비교할 수 없는 Iván: Spanish Immersion Book Club

This class will focus on the book The One and Only Ivan Spanish Edition. It is designed for Spanish Immersion students and requires a high level of Spanish language comprehension, reading, and oral speaking. If you are not certain this is a good fit for your student, please feel free to send me a message and I can help! Comparable Guided Reading level would be about an S and DRA level would be about a 40. The class is run entirely in Spanish. 

During our first class we'll get to know each other, the author of the book, set expectations for the club, and read orally to ensure pronunciation and comprehension. Following meetings will focus on oral expression, discussion, and literary analysis.  This will include vocabulary expansion, figurative language, connections to the text, theme, summarization, character analysis, and comprehension.  I will guide the students with discussion questions and encourage students to guide the conversation based on interest and questions.  It is imperative that students keep up with the assigned reading, come to class prepared, and participate in discussion in order to be successful and continue to improve their Spanish language production and comprehension.  They will be provided with a printable reading schedule as well as a printable discussion and vocabulary guide.
