수업 소개

This course is the same as my Middle School and High School Semester 1 course but for a wider age group over the summer months (it is also shorter due to summer holidays and more flexible in what it covers - specific topics can be requested). Welcome to the "Earth Science" weekly class, which focuses on some of the most dramatic physical forces on Earth, with the aim of making learning fun and exhilarating. I think making learning enjoyable and bringing science to life is the best way to get kids engaged and learning without realising it. Each class will cover a stand alone topic and students can join or leave anytime. No previous experience necessary. ▬▬▬▬▬▬ CLASS SUMMARY ▬▬▬▬▬ In this class we focus on all parts of the Earth Science school curriculum, with a new topic being introduced each week. All topics covered are an important part of any child's education in Geology, Meteorology, Physical Geography Oceanography and Planet Science. ▬▬▬▬▬ WEEKLY TOPIC SCHEDULE ▬▬▬▬▬ 1) THE ROCK CYCLE AND THE SCIENCE OF GEOLOGY 2) MINERALS & PRECIOUS METALS AND GEMS 3) PLATE TECTONICS & THE FORMATION OF THE EARTH 4) SEDIMENTARY ROCKS - FOSSILS, FAULTS & FOLDS 5) IGNEOUS ROCKS AND VOLCANOES 6) WHAT MADE THE DINOSAURS EXTINCT - VOLCANOES OR ASTEROID? 7) PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY - WEATHERING, RIVERS, GLACIERS & DESERTS 8) THE ATMOSPHERE - MOISTURE, CLOUDS AND RAIN 9) WEATHER PATTERNS, AIR PRESSURE & EXTREME WEATHER 10) THE OCEAN FLOOR AND OCEAN SYSTEMS 11) THE PLANETS, SOLAR SYSTEMS & GALAXIES 12) OTHER OPTIONAL CLASSES BY REQUEST ▬▬▬▬▬▬ CLASS STYLE ▬▬▬▬▬ I use PowerPoint presentations for all my classes, so I can mix text and multimedia (photos & videos) which I think makes the class more accessible and interesting. This class will be in a lecture style with an "intro-questions-repeat" format. This means I will take a few minutes to introduce a topic, using images or videos wherever appropriate in order to bring the subject alive. At the end of the section there is the opportunity to ask questions, although students can also ask questions anytime. Then we'll move on to the next exciting sub-topic and supporting material and then field questions if there are any. This means that you can enjoy the class however you like. Speak up and get involved and ask questions, or just listen and enjoy with no pressure. I recommend following this class with Semester 2 and if the student would like a more interactive discussion class then please join Semester 3. I also do 4 day camps in the summer based on the same topics. Please contact me to arrange either one-off or ongoing bespoke 1-to1 tuition sessions.

학부모 가이드
Some classes talks about Global Warming and Climate Change causing more frequent natural disasters. It also talks about mass extinctions including the possibility of humans causing one now (including ourselves) and has some drawn images of animals dying to become fossils. It is delivered in a upbeat manner with positive solutions (eg: switching to renewable energy), but the more sensative students may find these topics distressing.
