If your student knows their initial letter sounds (A-Z), can write these letters and is able to blend CVC words this class is your next step along the path towards your child's reading fluency! What Will Be Studied Each Week? Sept 12th: ch, sh, Sept 19th: th, ng, Sept 26th: qu, wh Oct 3rd: ai, ee, Oct 10th: igh, oa, Oct 17th: oo, ar Oct 24th: BREAK Oct 31st: ow, oi, Nov 7th: Break Nov 14th: or, ur/er Nov 21st: ear, air Nov 28th: ay, ou Dec 5th: ie,ea Dec 12th: oy, ir Dec 19th: ue, aw Dec 26th : BREAK Jan 2nd: wh, ph Jan 9th: ew, oe Jan 16th: au, ey Jan 23rd: a-e, e-e Jan 30th: o-e, u-e Feb 6th : i-e (refund of $10 for this week) What Will Happen in Each Class? At the beginning of each class a new diagraph sound will be introduced (see below for weekly schedule). I will teach an action and a phrase to help your child embed the sound into their memory. We will look at words with these sounds in and practice segmenting and blending them. Each session is filled with reading games, writing games, colorful interactive resources and opportunities to laugh and have fun! Your student will be reading lists, tricky words, nonsense words and simple silly sentences. They will complete the session by a challenge to write their own simple sentence. There will be lots of opportunities to share achievements. As students listen to each other sounding out and blending they will help each other and learn from each other at the same time. I always encourage students to participate as much as possible. The main aim of each session will be to build your child's confidence in reading words out of context and within a text. This will prepare them for reading unfamiliar words in any book, and will give them the confidence to fall in love with any new story! You can complete the whole of this course, or dip into it as best fits our child's learning needs. The course will be repeated every 6 weeks, so if you miss a section you would be welcome to join at a later stage. Classes are held on a Monday, and Friday. Hello there!
I am a qualified British teacher living in the U.K. I have taught the 3-11 year old children for over for over 15 years. At present I teach part-time at a local school Here I teach 4-8 year olds Math Mastery and phonics.
My other passion is to teach children about the natural world through drawing and craft.
I am a qualified outdoor educator (Forest School Level 3), and cannot wait to bring the outside into your home. By teaching about the natural world I hope to encourage your child to go out, explore and become passionate about the natural world. Through drawing, natural crafts and stories I would hope to build a connection between your child and the natural world, that will light a spark of love for the outdoors, and will last them a lifetime.
I also love to pass on knowledge about my culture, I am originally from Wales, have lived in Scotland and now live in England... so there will be lots to learn in my lessons about these three countries of the United Kingdom.
I would wish your child to be so inspired by my lessons that they would want to find out more independently about art, nature and different cultures.
