Dungeons & Dragons Basics is a quick camp class that will give future adventurers the tools and knowledge they need to start playing this popular tabletop roleplaying game. 

In this 3-Day camp, learners will gain a basic understanding of the rules for D&D, learn how to create characters, learn the importance of the different dice used, and put it all into practice with a quick "one-shot" game.

CLASS OUTLINE
~ Camp Day 1: Character Creation - learners will gain information on how to create unique characters to use in a D&D game. They will build their own characters using the core rule set, Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition (5e). We will also discuss character back story and why it matters, take a look at the future potential of their character as they level up, and address the different ways their character can be played. 
~ Camp Day 2: Learn the Rules and the Dice - learners will gain knowledge on the base rules for the game, based on the 5e rule set. We will discuss the different uses and purposes of the various dice used in the game. We will also address how the rules aren't set in stone and the Dungeon Master (DM) can adjust rules based on what works for each adventure. 
~ Camp Day 3: One Shot Game - learners will get to practice and apply all they've learned in a quick one-shot style game. A one-shot game is, in essence, a single mini adventure that could appear in a larger campaign but typically stands on its own. Learners will be able to use their characters to play out this adventure and will engage in hands on learning to help them get comfortable playing D&D. 

At the completion of this camp, learners should feel more confident and capable in their ability to join a D&D campaign. Throughout the classes, it will be emphasized that D&D is a game that encourages learning and exploring - learners should never feel like they have to know everything and should know it is always okay to ask questions. 

Upon completion of this class, if learners so desire, I will set up a full campaign class for them to begin playing D&D. That class will be a beginner friendly, traditional style D&D game that will be on-going (like my Campaign of Eras class). 
No prior knowledge of D&D is required to participate in this camp.
