The goal for this class is for students to become motivated from within, to read the pages given, and to be able to participate fully in discussions about the reading.We will build upon reading strategies taught in Distracted Reader Part One, Part three. I have taught middle and high school English Language Arts for a decade.
Class uses Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. I would suggest having a paper or digital copy. A free kindle version is available here: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/120 I am using a used copy in class. The book is available for free here: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/120 The kindle version has the nicest formatting. You will need a composition notebook, a pencil, a good eraser, and some kind of coloring utensil such as a colored pencil. Dollar stores have great erasers! You may want to keep your classwork items in an organizer of some kind.
