Join us in our virtual engineering & coding laboratory and explore the exciting world of digital robotics! In this 6-week course, kids will learn how to program a robot using online robotics platforms and block-based coding. They will make their virtual robot come to life as they learn how to program it to solve mazes and interactive challenges. This program is designed for kids who have an interest in robots and/or programming. No prior experience is necessary, and participants should be comfortable using keyboards or touchscreens to read and follow instructions. This student-centered course is designed to be highly engaging and interactive, with collaborative projects that allow kids to work together and learn from one another. Our expert instructors will guide kids through progressively advanced robotics programs, teaching them the basics of programming with robotics software, and showing them how coding can be used to solve puzzles and complex problems. Over the course of 6-weeks, kids will learn to construct software-based robots, using online robotics platforms VEX VR. They will learn about programming logic, algorithms, and conditional statements. They will also have the opportunity to explore the world of sensors and actuators, learning how robots can interact with their environment. Each class is 55 minutes long, with class meeting once a week over 6-weeks giving kids plenty of time to dive deep into the material and work on collaborative projects with their classmates. Our teaching style is highly interactive, with a mix of lecture, games, slides, and discussion. Kids will get to interact with both their peers and their instructor throughout the course, asking questions and getting feedback on their projects. By the end of the course, kids will have a deep understanding of robotics programming, and they will have completed a series of progressively advanced robotics challenges. They will have the skills and confidence to continue exploring the exciting world of robotics and programming on their own. Week 1 - Learn about the VEX VR interface, Learn basics about programming and teach your robot to draw a house. Week 2-3 - Learn about repeating loops in code, program your robot to do various things around VEX VR interface. Week 3-4 - Learn about using sensors and variables, Robot Puppy Training, Ice Skating challenge, and Wall Maze Challenge with VEX VR. Week 5-6 - Learn about using sensors and nested loops in code. Dance Contest and Nosy Robot and Learning more challenging coding concepts in a fun interactive way.
