C.S. 루이스 - 사자, 마녀, 그리고 옷장 - 2권

This class will work much like an book club where students will be asked to read the book, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, during the week, and spend time discussing the book in class.  Please note that the Disney movie, while good, takes liberties not found within the book.  It is important then that the students read the book in order to correctly partake in the discussions.

While the focus will be on The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, the first class will be used to discuss how Narnia come to be (as described in the book, The Magician's Nephew).  Knowing this information will help to establish the curse over Narnia that the children later come to be part of breaking.  It will also be from this point that reading assignments will be named for the students to discuss the following week.

The class and reading schedule is as follows:
Week 1 - Discussing C.S.Lewis and a background on the Magician's Nephew in order to understand this book.  Homework of reading chapters 1-4 for discussion the following week.

Week 2 - Finding ourselves within the characters.  Discussion of chapters 1-4.  Homework of reading chapters 5-8.

Week 3 - Learning to think "logically".  Discussion of chapters 5-8.  Homework of reading chapters 9-11.

Week 4 - "They are tools, not toys."  Discussion of chapters 9-11.  Homework of reading chapters 12-14.

Week 5 - Battles, sacrifice, and the deep magic.  Discussion of chapters 12-14.  Homework of reading chapters 15-17.

Week 6 - Discussion of chapters 15-17.  Preparing for final written assignment.  This assessment will result in the students writing a report on the book that discusses the book as a whole, and allows the student to express a theme or event in the book they can relate to.
