창의적 글쓰기: 빌딩 블록

This class is designed to help students develop their ability to write descriptive, detailed, technically accurate sentences and short paragraphs. The lessons use the English KS2 Curriculum for years 3 and 4 (ages 7 to 9) standards. Students will receive a handout to help with each lesson. 
Each class will focus on using sentence structure, sentence openers, vocabulary choices, adjectives, verbs, extended noun phrases, figurative techniques and punctuation to create detailed descriptive sentences and short paragraphs. 
The class uses the model and practice teaching method. Students will see an exemplar of the skill and type of writing being practised and then practice the sentences themselves. Students will receive handouts to help with vocabulary that focus on what they will be describing in the lesson. Each lesson will also include 5 words that they will try to use in their writing to help develop a more adventurous vocabulary. 
Each week students will use picture prompts to help write descriptive sentences, and modelled sentences to demonstrate the skills we are practising. 
At the end of the lesson students will work on a piece of independent writing that can then be sent for marking, assessment and feedback.
