Welcome to Poetry Club. In this ongoing course, students will learn how to write different forms of poetry. We will start with a figure of speech and practice free writing. Then we will begin instruction in a new poetic form. We will create a poem or review examples of our poetic form as a class. Then students will have time to write their own poems incorporating the figure of speech into their poems. After poetry writing students are encouraged but not required to share their poetry with the...
Students will increase their knowledge of figures of speech while developing their creative writing chops and learning about different poets and types of poetry.
This class is taught by Mr. Moshe who has a BA in Creative Writing from Queens College(CUNY) and is pursuing a Master's degree in English Education at DePaul University.

Students should have a word processor or bring a notebook and writing implement. Other supplies needed for the week will be posted in the classroom. Students are encouraged to work in the same notebook or file in order to keep all of their writing in one place.
