This is a 4 week self paced course for ages 6-8 who are just beginning to write. This course was created for students who cannot take the live version of the course for various reasons. Taking the live version of the course is highly recommended.  But if the live version is simply not possible - this course is for you! Students must have the ability to read and write simple words to be successful in this class. This course is not for the child who already loves to write and is successful in writing.  This course is for those young students who need encouragement in story writing and simply need to know how to begin a story.  Students will listen to the pre-recorded lesson that is posted in the classroom. Following along with the teacher, the student will write a sentence that begins the story. As the video lesson progresses, the student will be given the opportunity to personalize their story by adding some unique details to their story. Students are welcome to just sound out words and use phonetic spelling, or they may prefer to ask a parent for help as they go along. After the story is finished, the student will send a picture of their story to the teacher. The student may also send a video of themselves reading their own story to the teacher.  Illustrations are optional.  The teacher will use the Outschool recording feature to give individual feedback to each student. 
Each week the process will be repeated with a different animal. 

Week 1 - Write a story about a selected animal. 
Week 2 - Write a story about a selected animal. 
Week 3 - Write a story about a selected animal.
Week 4 - Write a story about a selected animal.
