***Please let me know if you have a particular time in mind for scheduling, especially if you are planning to write with a group of friends.
***I won't cancel the class just because there's only one student enrolled.

Welcome to our weekly creative writing club designed to inspire your imagination and writing skills. Every other week, you will be presented with four writing prompts to choose from, or you may create your own unique prompt. Each learner will have two weeks to complete their writing prompt, which will be presented with a skills-based lesson. The prompts will vary in style and include narrative, personal narrative, opinion, descriptive, persuasive, or expository writing. We will provide guidelines for structure, but you are encouraged to personalize your text with your own words and images.

Please note that we will only focus on fiction or fictional stories and will not do non-fiction based writing.

Each student will receive three writing prompts on a Google Doc to create their own topic. They will discuss the prompts and their reactions before choosing a topic, highlighting their choice.

The student will develop their own way to write from their prompt, as some students prefer to write freely, while others would like to write from an outline.

The students will write their final drafts independently. They can email their work to me for feedback.
Each student will require scissors, tape, a spiral notebook for wiring, writing utensils, and coloring tools. Parents can supervise when cutting and taping “Doodle” cards. Lessons will be presented on a PowerPoint, along with occasional videos and websites.

CLASS EXPECTATIONS
I expect students to participate respectfully with peers and myself, share their work via webcam for me to monitor progress. As it is a creative writing class, learners can choose their own topic, but I expect good judgment. Prior to class, a printout activity will be posted on the classroom page for students to work on during class time. Time will be set aside at the end of class to share activities.
During my classes, I encourage discussion and movement and ensure learners have enough space to move around. I engage each learner by asking questions and opinions and prioritizing making learning enjoyable.
MUTING:
I do my best to encourage participation from learners enrolled in my classes. I prefer to leave learners unmuted, but as a parent myself, I understand that there are instances where learners need to be muted due to background noise that cannot be prevented. Parents, please feel free to mute your learners at your discretion.

There are also instances where I will need to utilize the mute function. If there is distracting background noise, I will mute students to limit it.

RECORDINGS:
At the beginning of each class, students must mark their attendance visually. They can turn off their camera afterward, except to display their work. Some students can be visual except through Outschool Safety and Security. Recordings are not automatically shown in the classroom. I strive to create a safe, open space for students to be themselves and encourage them to be as interactive as possible. I have automatically created and attached the class recordings for you. If you encounter any difficulty accessing them, kindly inform me, and I will offer my assistance.

I am a licensed elementary school teacher in the state of Texas. I have a Masters in Curriculum and Ed.S in Educational Technology. I have lived and worked as a teacher in Virginia, Louisiana, Texas, Minnesota, and Colorado. In each state, I was a licensed/certified elementary/middle school teacher. In addition to working with the elementary and middle school teacher, I have worked for several years as a special education teacher and online ESL and private teacher. In public schools, I specialized as a teacher by working with students who had severe physical, mental, and cognitive issues. Also, I worked with students who had severe Autism and who were also diagnosed with High Functional Asperger’s. Currently, I work online as an English Language teacher, writer, and teacher trainer. My two favorite historical figures are Abraham Lincoln and Malcolm X because each person never allowed failure to stop them from their eventual success as a person. My passion is to work with students in small groups and individuals who require scaffolding instruction to be successful. In addition, I love to teach a variety of courses and have a variety of interests that I want to share with my students. I love to teach project-based courses that incorporate reading, writing, math, and technology skills in relation to history and cultural awareness.
I love learning! I am in graduate school and attend many workshops. I have completed my Educational Specialist degree in educational technology, my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction, Bachelor of Arts in Specials Education and Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I also have an Associate degree in Early Childhood and a TESOL in English as a Second Language. I attend many workshops and have received my certifications as a Language teacher (Phonics, English as a Second Language, Language-based Disabilities).
In addition to working for Outschool, I have a business “Michelle’s Innovations” and provide services as an
•	an ESL teacher and am contracted with several Asian companies as either a small group or one on one teacher
• training for other teachers via webinars and in-person workshops.
•	adjunct professor for an online community college, Aimslee Institute
•	The Dragon’s Liar, a Teacher Pay Teacher’s online education store
•	Customized lessons/tutoring for students who are homeschooled,
•	Professional Learning for education professionals and proofreader for writers
As a public-school teacher, I received training in multi subjects, including science, writing, reading, math, and geography. As a result, I also taught children from PreK- 6th grade in the above subjects. My certifications have included these areas, as well as a resource, teaching, and ESL. My favorite subjects have always been science, reading, writing, and geography, so I have been fortunate in that I have been able to teach these subjects to students who are extremely interested in these areas.

My husband is a retired Navy person and we have lived in many different parts of the United States of America. In addition, my own family has lived in Europe where my dad worked as a teacher. I love to share and believe that we are a global community that needs to live together.
