Functions and Linear Equations is a focused four-session program designed to strengthen students' grasp of essential Algebra I concepts related to graphing and functions. This course helps students build a strong understanding of how to work with linear equations, interpret functions, and calculate and apply slope. Each 60-minute session is filled with interactive lessons, problem-solving, and engaging examples that connect math to real-world situations. Students will learn to:
Understand the definition and notation of functions.
Graph linear equations and identify their characteristics.
Calculate and interpret the slope of a line.
Write equations of lines from various forms of data (e.g., points or a graph).

Each session starts with a brief warm-up to review previous material and prime students for the new content. This is followed by a direct instruction segment where I explain and demonstrate new concepts with step-by-step examples. The main portion of the class includes guided practice with active participation from students, as well as collaborative problem-solving activities. We wrap up with a class discussion, a summary of key points, and time for questions to reinforce understanding.
