협동 문제 해결 수학 수업

Learning to communicate and work together to problem-solve is important. In this class, learners will problem-solve with their virtual team over the course of 4 sessions. 

Each week, we will work in teams of 2-4 to solve math puzzles cooperatively. Each team member will have a set of clues that they will need to share with their teammates in order to solve the math problem. I will help facilitate communication, but will mostly step back and let the kids interpret the clues themselves. If class size is large enough, learners will be able to work with a different group each week to get practice communicating and learning to take different roles in the group. 

Enrollment Notes: 

1. Register early. *Enrollment will close 24 hours before the class begins.* This is so that I know the final number of students with enough time that I can put the students into teams and individually send them their set of clues. 

2. Normally, I am happy to teach my classes with even just one learner. However, due to the cooperative nature of this course, I will have to cancel if we do not have at least two kids in the course — we just can’t learn teamwork by ourselves. 

3. If we are less than 5 days away from the start of class and your child is the only learner, I will be in contact with you to give you a heads up that the class may have to cancel. If that happened it would be a bummer for both of us, but at least we would have some time to make alternative arrangements. Again, register early so that all of us can rest assured that the course will proceed! 

4. In order to encourage a large group of kids so that we can switch up the teams frequently, I offer a 20% "bring a friend" discount. If you send me a message when you enroll and let me know the name of a friend that you have recruited to join the class as well, then when that friend joins the class, I will give them (and you!) a 20% discount. This brings the total cost of the class down to $41.60 for each of you. Limit one discount per learner. 

5. A note about siblings: If you have two children who are both in the age range of the course and are interested in being in the same section together, you can also take advantage of the "bring a friend" discount described above. In this case, both children would receive the discount. Please be advised that this class uses breakout rooms, so siblings will need to be on their own separate devices (I recommend headphones!) so that they can be sent to different breakout rooms, as necessary.
