철자 정복: 믿을 수 있는 6가지 철자 규칙 마스터(자기 주도)

Learning and mastering spelling rules makes spelling less intimidating and boosts your spelling confidence. This class will teach spelling rules in an upbeat, encouraging, and multi-sensory environment. Students will learn to spell words correctly by relying on six dependable spelling rules and generalizations, such as the Doubling Rule, silent-e Rule, and the Y Rule.

Please note there are no live meetings for this class. Two instructional videos will be posted in the Classroom every Monday morning. Each video will be about 20 minutes in length. Videos for the first 3 weeks will cover one spelling rule each. The videos during the last week are devoted to reviewing and reinforcing the spelling rules learned in the previous weeks.

Each instructional video will include:
1.	spelling warm-ups to strengthen the skills needed to become a confident speller
2.	a short custom-made, engaging video to present each spelling rule
3.	practice applying the rule to spelling words, including verbal and written methods to ensure the learners remember the rule itself, and dictation of words, phrases & sentences
4.	oral spelling
5.	oral decoding

Learners are encouraged to pause the video when needed to check their work, create flashcards to study with, and review for complete understanding before moving on. 

Two short homework assignments as audio files will also be posted in the classroom each week. These should be completed after watching each instructional video. Once the one-page homework is submitted, the teacher will respond usually within 24 hours with corrections, detailed feedback, encouragement, and added spelling tips when applicable. 

Visual and varying formats in the teaching style of this class will keep learners engaged while providing lots of practice time. This helps the new rules stick and become part of the learner’s spelling repertoire! 

Please note that the weekly price of this class reflects that 2 lessons are taught each week, not just 1. The pricing of my Flex classes is consistent with the pricing of my Live classes. 

Students should plan to watch the videos, complete the spelling dictations, make their rule flashcards, complete the homework, and choose one rule to teach each week. 

Students should post their homework and images of their flashcards to the Classroom twice a week for teacher feedback. 

By completing these tasks, students will be able to practice and reinforce what was learned in the class videos. This also provides the opportunity for the teacher to gauge the student's progress and understanding. By the end of the 4-week course, students will be comfortable applying 6 frequently used spelling rules to their writing, which will increase their spelling confidence!

Class content each week is as follows:
•	Week One: Floss Rule and k/ck, ch/tch, ge/dge Generalization
•	Week Two: Plurals Rule and Doubling Rule
•	Week Three: Silent-e Rule and Y Rule
•	Week Four: Review of all 6 Rules

A flex course allows a learner to cover the material at times convenient for them. Students are encouraged to check in with the teacher anytime during the course using the Outschool Classroom. Private messages or Classroom comments are usually responded to within 24 hours.
