I am consistently surprised that many young fans of superheroes are unfamiliar with their humble, comic strip beginnings. This one time class will introduce students to “the funny pages” (colored comic strips on the back of newspapers), comic books, and storyboarding. Through character development, and a fair amount of goofiness, students will create clear plot lines and story order. We will cover comedy, drama, and science fiction through student guided drawings and brainstorming sessions....
Participants will have a completed comic strip by the end of class. Students will be encouraged to articulate/ narrate their sequences for the class, as a practice round for friends and family.
