클라리넷 부트 캠프 - 3월, 3월, 3월!

Week 1
Day 1
Meet and greet.  Getting to know the members of the class. 
Marching basics:  How to line up.  The importance of listening and awaiting directions. 
Standing at Attention.
At Ease.

How long have you played clarinet, if at all.
Have you taken other instruments?

Getting started on the clarinet. 
Putting the horn together.   

Reeds, how to put them on, how to handle them.  

Day 2
Marching basics.
Attention, at ease, right face, left face, about face.  

Learning to blow the horn.
Proper embouchure. 

First notes. 
Small song exercises using first notes.
Long tones introduced.  

Day 3.

Review of all marching basics done so far.  Take turns giving orders (Attention, At Ease, etc. ) to the others.  
Basics of counting while marching (time signatures).
Begin marching to music.  
Review 2 notes and add one more. Hot Cross Buns 
Practice Long Tones. Discuss proper breathing technique.

Week 2

Day  4 
Proper marching form.  
Marching in place.
Short marching drills.  

A band cheer!

Please note:  Playing clarinet while marching is not going to be done unless student is more experienced. (Can hurt your teeth if you are not completely sure of what you are doing.) So very few students will be ready at this point. 

Clarinet practice, importance and implementation using current and new songs.
Note 4 add in and make up your own song in addition to current songs in the book. No stress,  this is just a fun activity!

Day 5.  

Band Cheer 
Marching to famous marching rhymes.  
Right turn, left turn.

Short combination marching routine. 

Clarinet review all 4 notes, add note 5.  Long tones.  Move forward in the book.  

Day 6:  More clarinet work in the book.
Review Marching.
Practice the short routing.
Perform the routine for any family that would like to watch.

This course uses the Essential Elements book.  See materials.  The book is a required purchase for copyright reasons. 

A Bb clarinet and appropriate level reeds are required.  A music stand is useful, but not required.  If you have a place to prop the book up, that will work.  (Pianos have music stands built in, so they work as well.)
