칠 첼로스: 초보 첼리스트를 위한 여름 캠프!

This is an 6 week class designed to teach beginning students how to play the cello. Students will learn the parts of the cello, how to properly hold the instrument, the appropriate methods for producing sounds/pitches, notes/fingerings, and how to play beginning level songs. This will be a very squeaky adventure!

Students are expected to have a sized Cello on their very first lesson day. 

Students will be taught using resources from the Essential Elements for Strings Cello Book 1 and Suzuki Cello Book 1. This will help students with individual practice and learning notation and cello fingerings. Students will focus mostly on foundational technique and learning a few beginning songs. 

 
Week 1: Parts of the Cello, how to properly hold the cello, and Pizzicato, Pizzicato Playing and Cello String Names
Week 2: Left hand position and pressing the 1st, 3rd, and 4th finger down on the D string. Songs: Walking Song, How Cross Buns, Lightly Row
Week 3: Pressing Fingers down on A string. Song: Twinkle, Twinkle
Week 4: Bow hold and Arco playing.
Week 5: Bowing using half, quarter, and eighth note rhythms. Scale: D Major Scale
Week 6: Bowing: Lightly Row and Twinkle, Twinkle
